Professor Chris Whitty, Chief Medical Officer

As the body of evidence demonstrating air pollutions’ detrimental effects on climate and health grows, local public health teams continue to explore how they can protect their communities and tackle widening inequalities.

Speakers include:

  • Professor Eleonora Fichera, University of Bath – on the effects of London’s Low Emission Zone (LEZ) and Ultra-Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) on air quality, sick leave, well-being, and physical health.

  • Rosie Dalton-Lucas and Kate Smith, Southwark Council – on the local level action Southwark have taken to protect their population from harm.

  • Dr Kristina Kim, University of Edinburgh - presenting findings from a review of published literature on actions which can address the negative impacts of CDOH across a local system.
